Mary Hockett, MA Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
I consider psychotherapy to be a process where an individual discovers self-awareness as well as expressing one's feelings and to eliminate unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. I believe that the greatest act of courage is to submit oneself to the truth; there is no healing in hiding.
I facilitate counseling for individuals of all ages as well as work with couples and facilitate groups for women who are struggling with self-esteem issues and relationship problems. I see adults for anxiety issues, depression, marital problems, poor self-esteem, and psychological pain regarding many different issues. I specialize in working with children and facilitate play therapy. Children may be suffering from pain from divorce, abuse, relationship issues and ADHD as well as many other problems.
A trusting and truthful client-therapist relationship is very important in order that therapy be successful. Psychotherapy is a journey for the therapist and the client together; understanding the issues that need to be resolved and the behaviors that need to be changed.
I earned my Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College.
