My passion is helping people to recover their true self and place in the world. In doing this, I’m directive when appropriate while I emphasize lots of grace and sensitivity. I love helping individuals, couples and families to communicate better, find new hope, and improve their overall lives. You’ll find me easy to talk to, supportive, and yet not afraid to give you the direction that’s needed.
I’ve been counseling people both inside and outside the church since the early 1990’s. I worked as a pastoral counselor in the church prior to completing my MA in Marriage & Family Therapy at Western Seminary in 1997. Prior to my counseling career, I worked in industry as a chemist for seventeen years and I have decades of ministry experience.
Although I’m a generalist, I do specialize in the treatment of anxiety, trauma and addictions. I hold certifications for the treatment of addictions. I work with people with various compulsive habits such as alcohol, drugs, pornography/sex, gambling/money, and food. I teach emotion/anger management, since it’s a key learning point for the treatment of addiction and many other issues.
Another area that I specialize in is helping people with general identity issues, their identity in God, and gender/sexual identity.
I work with individual adults, couples and adolescents. I have a passion for repairing and rebuilding marriages and I do a lot of premarital counseling. I regularly use the Prepare-Enrich online assessment and workbook helps with couples.
