Care
Divorce and life transition.
When a life is being taken apart and put back together.

This counseling is for divorce, separation, career change, and other life transitions.
People come in the middle of the decision, after the papers, or when the role they had is simply gone. The session is for the practical strain and the grief that sits under it.
You do not have to know whether the issue is the marriage, the job, or both before you call.
When life changes all at once.
Some changes rearrange everything. A divorce or separation. A move. A job loss, a career change, or retirement. Children leaving home. A new diagnosis, a new baby, or becoming a caregiver for a parent. Even good changes can leave you feeling unsteady.
A transition is the space between the life you had and the life that comes next. It often brings a mix of feelings at once: relief and sadness, hope and fear, anger and guilt. That mix is normal. You are not doing it wrong.
Divorce in particular can touch every part of life at the same time: home, money, children, friendships, faith, and the story you thought your life would tell.
How a big change can show up.
During a big change, you might notice:
- trouble sleeping, eating, or concentrating
- feeling numb one day and overwhelmed the next
- second-guessing decisions, or feeling stuck and unable to make one
- grief for the life, role, or future you expected
- tension with an ex-spouse, family members, or co-workers
- worry about how your children are handling it
- losing your sense of who you are now
How we help you through divorce and change.
We start by listening to where you are right now. Your first session is a conversation about your history and what brought you in.
From there, you and your therapist decide what to focus on. Often that includes:
- Steadying the day to day. Practical ways to handle stress, sleep, and the long list of decisions in front of you.
- Making room for the loss. Even a change you chose can carry grief. Naming it helps you move through it rather than around it.
- Thinking clearly. When your mind keeps circling worst cases or harsh self-judgment, we help you slow down and find a clearer, kinder view.
- Navigating relationships. Communicating with an ex-spouse, setting healthy boundaries, and caring for your children through the change.
- Finding your footing again. Reconnecting with your values, strengths, and the people and practices that ground you.
If children are part of the picture, family counseling or separate support for a child or teen can help. We can talk with you about what would fit.
